Holiday Worshops - September 2019

 Partners in Communication is offering workshops over the September-October school holidays for:

·      Pre-school children (above 4 years)

·      Prep-readiness program

·      Early primary aged children

·      Later primary aged children

These workshops will be run with Speech Pathologists and use the Social Thinking® methodology as seen in The Incredible Flexible You®, We Thinkers® and Social Thinking and Me® (produced by www.socialthinking.com) together with the ‘Zones of Regulation’ by Leah Kuypers.

These programs are a Social Thinking® curriculum for early childhood and are designed for children between 4 and 12 years of age. Groups will be tailored according to ability and age depending on interest. Minimum numbers required.

These groups are tailoured for children who might have difficulties with:

·     Listening and attending

·     Initiation and maintaining conversations

·     Relating socially

·     Negotiating and compromising

·     Making and maintaining friendships

These groups aim to better equip children with the skills required to play with others, learn in a group and consider the thoughts and feelings of themselves and others.

Group structure:

The groups are for 4-5 children together with a speech pathologist/occupational therapist and experienced assistants. They run for a duration of 1 hour 45 mins, with parents returning 20 mins prior to the end of the session for the feedback component.

Activities comprise:

·        Thinking with your eyes/joint attention

·        Interpreting the context/situation

·        Whole body listening

·        Expected/unexpected behaviours

·        Social behaviour mapping

·        Free play facilitating session targets

·        Social games

When: Tuesday–Thursday 24-26th Sept; Tuesday–Thursday 1st-3rd Oct

Time: Mornings (10.30am - 12pm) - Kinder Groups; Afternoons (1.30pm - 3pm) - Primary Aged Groups

Costs: FaHCSIA clients: $150 per session. Non FaHCSIA: $145 per session, payments to be made in advance.
