Rachel has over 12 years of experience, largely through her work at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH). She has developed extensive experience in the assessment and management of paediatric feeding, swallowing, voice and early communication difficulties. Rachel has worked with infants and children with a wide range of neurodevelopmental and complex medical problems. Medical problems include respiratory difficulties, tracheostomy, vocal cord palsy, cleft palate, cardiac anomalies, allergy, failure to thrive and gastrointestinal conditions such as reflux.
Within her part-time private practice, Rachel has focussed on supporting infants and children with a range of feeding and eating / drinking challenges. These may include problems with bottle feeding, introduction of solids, progression with textures, feeding/food refusal and aversion, transition from tube to oral feeding and swallowing difficulty. Rachel works in partnership with families and other professionals to promote positive feeding and mealtime experiences.
Rachel’s experience also includes work within multidisciplinary teams. These teams have included the Voice Clinic and Neonatal Unit at the RCH, the Infant Mental Health team at both the RCH and the Alfred Hospital.
Rachel has post graduate qualifications in Creative and Experiential Art therapy, and has a background in drama and drumming.
